China’s automobile exports continued to grow rapidly in June 2023

According to the statistical analysis of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, automobile exports continued to grow rapidly in June 2023, following exports exceeding 2 million units in 2021 and more than 3 million units in 2022, automobile exports in the first half of this year were 2.14 million units, a year-on-year increase of 75.7%, contributing significantly to the overall growth of the market.

In June 2023, automakers exported 382,000 units, down 1.7% m/m and up 53.2% y/y. From January to June 2023, automakers exported 2.14 million units, up 75.7% y/y.

Passenger car exports in June 2023 totaled 312,000 units, down 4.1% m/m and up 57.7% y/y. From January to June 2023, passenger car exports were 1.78 million units, up 88.4% y/y.

Commercial vehicle exports in June 2023 were 70,000 units, up 10.7% m/m and 36% y/y. From January to June 2023, commercial vehicle exports totaled 361,000 units, up 31.9% y/y.

In June 2023, NEV exports totaled 78,000 units, down 28.4% m/m and up 1.7 times y/y. From January to June 2023, exports of new energy vehicles reached 534,000 units, a y/y increase of 1.6 times.

In June 2023, SAIC Motor exported 87,000 units among the top 10 OEMs, up 15.1% y/y and accounting for 22.7% of total exports. From January to June 2023, among the top 10 OEMs, BYD exported 81,000 units, up 10.6 times y/y, Chery exported 394,000 units, up 1.7 times y/y, and Great Wall exported 124,000 units, up 97.3% y/y.
