Analysis of China’s Automobile Exports in August 2023

According to statistics and analysis from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in August 2023, there was a rapid growth in automobile exports.

In August 2023, automobile exports reached 408,000 units, showing a month-on-month growth of 3.9% and a year-on-year growth of 32.1%.

From January to August 2023, automobile exports totaled 2.941 million units, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 61.9%.

In August 2023, passenger car exports reached 349,000 units, with a month-on-month increase of 7% and a year-on-year increase of 34.2%.

From January to August 2023, passenger car exports amounted to 2.455 million units, demonstrating a year-on-year growth of 69.8%.

In August 2023, commercial vehicle exports stood at 59,000 units, with a month-on-month decrease of 11.2% but a year-on-year increase of 21.4%.

From January to August 2023, commercial vehicle exports reached 486,000 units, showing a year-on-year growth of 31.1%.

 

In August 2023, traditional energy vehicle exports amounted to 318,000 units, with a month-on-month increase of 9.2% and a year-on-year increase of 41%.

 From January to August 2023, traditional energy vehicle exports totaled 2.215 million units, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 49.9%.

 In August 2023, new energy vehicle exports reached 90,000 units, with a month-on-month decrease of 11.2% but a year-on-year increase of 8.1%.

 From January to August 2023, new energy vehicle exports amounted to 727,000 units, showing a year-on-year growth of 1.1 times.

In August 2023, among the top ten companies in the whole vehicle export sector, SAIC's export volume increased by 5.2% year-on-year, accounting for 23.5% of the total export volume. Compared to the same period in the previous year, BYD had the most significant increase in export growth, with a year-on-year growth of 3.7 times.

 From January to August 2023, among the top ten companies in the whole vehicle export sector, in terms of growth rate, BYD's export volume increased by 6.5 times; Chery's export volume increased by 1.2 times; Great Wall's volume increased by 95.5% year-on-year.
